A remix! it was refreshing to hear a new version of something I was so familiar with.
The original mix was available on Aqua's '97 album Aquarium and was released as the album's fifth single (from my memory, third single in Canada).
"Doctor Jones" is tied to a very clear memory.
Eighth grade, late spring/early summer.. gym class. EW. BUT IT WAS THE DANCE UNIT!!! this unit meant creating a pop band and choreography.
in creating a pop group, we had to come up with a band name.
Inspired by *N Sync, we tried to create a name based on our names.
(*N Sync was justiN. chriS, joeY, lancesteN, jC).
so our first name, first letters were N, J, A, H, D, D, L.
our first name, last letters were A, Y, A, Y, W, D, A.
we couldn't do it. so we went to last names: K, U, H, A, A, D, R.
we had to move on, so we were tentatively called Kuha Adr. we hated it...
then i had the idea to keep Kuha but change the Adr part. biting newly made Popstars band's name Sugar Jones... KUHA JONES was born!!
we were originally going to perform a medley mix of
Dr. Jones (which we sang over... kuha jones, jones, calling kuha jones...)
"Yeah Yeah Yeah" by PYT
"Days Like That" by Sugar Jones
"Survivor" by Destiny's Child.
we chose 3 songs that had the WILDEST beats! the most syncopated rhythms.
we gave up and ended up doing "Get Over Yourself (Goodbye)" by Eden's Crush. it was epic.
