Advent Calendar 2021 - Day 16

The Puzzle Place was a show that aired on PBS in the ‘90s. It featured six kids from six different cultures. Julie was Chinese-American, Sky was Apache, Jodi was Jewish, Leon was African American, Kiki was Mexican-American and Ben was Scandinavian American.( I had to look Ben up).

The holiday special focused around Chriatmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa.

The memory I have from when I was little was of Ben who celebrated Christmas, thought Jodi who celebrated Hanukkah would feel left out at Christmas. So he hangs her menorah on the tree. Jodi is offended and tells Ben what Hanukkah is. Ben realized that Hanukkah is its own holiday. Leon then walks in with a Kinara and Ben says “Leon! I didn’t know you were Jewish!” Leon then explains what Kwanzaa is.

what I don’t remember is the ending… Leon has a surprise for his friends... Leon’s brings PATTI LABELLE!!!
